I have a new job at a car wash.

I report there at 8:00 a.m. and sign in up front. I then mozy on to the back where we have a "drying station" if you will.

This drying station is like this.

___                                                 |        W          |
|    |                                                  |         A           |
|    |                                                  |         S           |
|    |                                                  |         H            |
|    |                    ________           |           I            |                __________
|    |                    | Left table|          |          N           |               |Right Table |
|__|                   |________|          |         G           |                |__________|
   ^Dryer/sink                                  |                       |
                                                         |          T           |
                                                         |          R          |
                                                         |          A           |
                                                         |          C          |
                                                         |          K          |

Okay, that took me 10-15 minutes to make, so you better appreciate it. Also, when I typed it out that washing track was a straight lane down. So pretend that it still is.

Anyway I report to the drying station where there is already a stack of clean towels on each table. As cars come, I put one in each hand and wipe the car down. The best cars to dry are convertibles and Mini Coopers. The worst are those god damn Ford F-250 SUPER DUTY BASTARDS. That and those GMC vans that can fit 20-30 of my Mexican people. After about 3 or 4 cars I toss my towels into the sink, which is filled with some sort of cleaner, and water. When we're getting kind of low, we take the towels that have been soaking in the sink, and toss them in the dryer. All this dryer does is spin around really fast so that most of the moisture is gone. We take the towels out after a couple of minutes, fold them up, and divide them separately  among the two tables.

Yesterday I received a $20 tip. This is highly unusual when you're drying a car, usually because our average tip is a dollar or two. This $20 tip excites me, but alas, I have to share it amongst my fellow dryers. Tips work like this. The first guy to be at the drying station gets the first dollar, the second gets the second and so on. Once we reach the end of the line, we go back to the first person. So there were three of us back there. Two of us got $6, and the other guy got $8 because he put armor-all on the tires after drying. It was a little lame having to share the tip, but $6 dollars for drying one side of a car is pretty generous.

Nearly everyone that works there smokes. They all seem like lower-class kind of people, with the exception of a few, including my step-brother, who's pretty much the reason I got the job. I doubt I'll ever befriend any of them.

Well, entertaining or not, I thought I'd let you in on the wonderful world of a car wash.

I don't like getting older. It's a bit depressing thinking about all the good times I've had in the past 3 years and how much things have changed. The friends I had, the activities we enjoyed, where did they go? Whatever happened to bonfire's at Amy's? Random party's in Brittany's basement? Movies in Sean's room? Steve's hot tub? (sure it's winter and we don't do much water activities this time of year, but you get the idea)

Where have all the good times gone?

I miss the upperclassmen, who are now underclassmen in college, even though a lot of them were annoying, a good handful of them kept me happy.

I miss the whole Sean, Alex, Kim, Teresa, Steve, Teresa, Julia, Eif, Lizzie group. We have all drifted apart into our own much smaller circle of friends.

I miss last summer. Living day to day, not knowing what we'll be by the end of it.

I miss when my family had Christmas spirit. Or when we were at least an actual family.

I miss a certain conversation I had with Sean online. I don't miss the conversation itself, I can IM Sean whenever I want. I just miss what the conversation represented.

And believe it or not, yes, I fucking miss 8th grade.

I can't really be upset over the changes though. With the bad came the good. And there are a lot of good things in my life that I never had before. I just wish the good things I used to have could co-exist with the good things I have now.

Does anybody else miss this?

Mr. Gess told me that he thinks my personality has changed since I got a haircut. A few kids in the class agree, saying I'm more self-conscious. I think I'm about the same as I've always been. I probably just show it more now.

Lately I've been listening to the same song on repeat for days. This song changes every couple of days or so. The only songs I can think of that I've been listening to are "Wonderwall" by Oasis, and "Age of Consent" by Neverending White Lights.

Come see "Don't Drink the Water" on November 9th, 10th, and 11th. I jumped from having 5 lines in Murder on the Nile to having about 270 in Don't Drink the Water, so it should be enjoyable for all.

Mr. Maunu admitted that I, along with a select handful of classmates, was right and he was wrong. It was a great way to end my school day.

I wish I had more time to spend with my friends.

6th hour this past week has pretty much been a big free hour. We go to the library every day and do "research."

I've been extremely tired all week. All school year really. So far I've ended up falling asleep on my couch every day after school. No matter what time I go to bed, I always seem to be just as tired the next day.

I 'd write more, but the bell is about to ring.

Today I woke up to the sound of Sean crashing onto my shelf. To elaborate, Sean slept over last night on the top bunk. I have a shelf right by the ladder of my bed, because I never use the ladder in the first place to get up there. So as Sean was climbing down, he stepped onto a shelf, causing it to collapse, and bring my stereo along with it. He flopped the CD's inside it around, and we had to take it apart and fix it. Not a big deal though, it took ten minutes of our time tops.

After that Sean ate breakfast and left. I got onto my computer for a little bit and then showered. I then proceeded to the carnival in Lincoln Park so I could throw pies at Kelly's face.

Then I went to Steve's house and we ate some cake and then went back to my house to watch Slackers. Prior to watching Slackers, we tried to round up 8 people to do the Taco Bell Challenge with us, but we came up short, and will be doing it tomorrow. Jeremy and Eif came over and we watched Slackers.

Hunger struck, so we went to Little Caesar's and picked up a Hot N' Ready pizza. We then went to Taco Bell and pulled the famous "Alex walks into the Meijer gas station and takes slurpee cups then walks over to Taco Bell and fills them up for free" stunt.

We then went into Meijer and played video games and looked at random toys.

After that we went back and loitered in the parking lot. And headed over to random houses in Cornville. We eventually ended up at another Taco Bell over in Newport. Steve made up a reason to go home and we left.

So here I am, with nothing to do, and nobody interesting to talk to.

Have you ever known anyone as an acquaintance and just wanted to be their friend? Like you think they are such cool people because they're really funny or have an interesting outlook on life. But you barely talk to them and you can't exactly just throw yourself into someone's life, although I must admit I've done that once or twice.

Dear Heather, I'm going to try and visit you sometime before summer vacation ends. I'd be happy to bring anyone else who wants to join me.

Tomorrow I'm waking up, not doing anything, then have a dentist appointment at 2:00. Then I think I'm going to hang out with Haley for a bit, then I believe we're heading out to the Taco Bell in Newport for the Taco Bell Challenge.

Someone interesting needs to come online for me to talk to. Because out of the three people on my buddy list that aren't away, there isn't anyone I feel like I could have a serious conversation with.

My writing skills need improvement. I say then too much.

So I've been neglecting my live journal a lot lately because all I'd ever use it for was to read other people's journals.

I just read about 20 or so of my last few entries and decided I really ought to keep on writing in this so I can remember more of the memories I used to write about, because up until reading some of them, I had already forgotten the events even happened.

Do you watch or have you ever watched Rescue Me? If not then just skip to the next line. Lately I've been feeling like my life is sort of like Tommy Gavin's. Sort of, not exactly. We just seem to share a few of the same complications. And no, that's not my way of saying I have a drinking problem, and that I'm having sex with 3 or 4 different girls in the same week.

I'm working for my Dad again this summer. I actually have a pay-check now. I'm saving every dollar I earn for the "Alex wants a car" fund.

My birthday is 2 weeks from today. After this incredibly long year, I will finally be able to drive. If you feel like getting me something, then money would be just wonderful, you could help me buy an even nicer car than I was going to get and drive you around in it. Plus if you're one of those people who think "I wonder if he'll like this...", Then money is a good idea, I'll always like money.

I built a fort with Teresa and Julia a couple days ago. It's 5 feet to my right, taking up about half of my library. It's a decent fort, if it wasn't for the video game corner though, it'd be pretty boring. I think I'll move some kind of bed underneath the pool table.

I realize forts are for 7 year olds, but I think they are fun, and people need to stop worrying about what people their age should like doing, and what they actually do like doing.

My life has had too many events these past few months, I'm going to try and settle down for a while.

By the time you've gotten to this line, you don't even care anymore, so I'll end it here.

Until next time...

Today I called my grandpa, just to say hi. I feel like such a nice grandson.

My feet hurt. I'm lucky enough to be in Jesus Christ Superstar and Oklahoma at the same time. So my schedule is a bit crammed. So if we hang out during the month of March, consider yourself lucky because the amount of spare time I have is limited.

I want it to be summer. I want to go outside in a t-shirt. I want to climb trees. I want to go to Utah. Not many realize my love for Utah, and I don't expect you to.

Today I had to be rescued from my house by Matt Perlick because I am not 16, and I really need to be. Lately my lifestyle has made me feel like I need a car, a cell phone, and a new birth date.

I was about to type a new line, but I forgot to explain my previous statement. In a nutshell, I couldn't get to rehearsal, and I was going to miss it again.

yo tony said: what significance do you think the number 138 has?
standbackorcrash: well.. if you add the didgets together you get 12... and if you add those digets together you get 3... if you break 3 in half you get 1.5 and 1.5 is the number of guitars i have broke, which led me to get my new takamine.... so the significance would be ... nothing

It seems as if I've seen 4 or 5 people if the number 138 in their screenname. What does this mean?

Heather and Kristin's party was cool. Nobody was home at my house, so I had no way of getting there. So I decided the only way was hitch-hiking. As I walked down my street, it was freezing, so I considered going back. But then I couldn't feel my body anymore, so I continued marching down my street and the bike path in a suit.

Now, I said I went hitch-hiking, but every time I saw a car, I couldn't help but think it was a pedophile. So I ended up walking to Rachel's house. With perfect timing, I reached her driveway as the car was backing out, and got a ride from them.

At first it was a little weird, I felt like there was nobody there I could talk to. Then, somewhere between playing pool, and discussing musical interests, I loved it.

Apparently I smelled good.

I had 3 or 4 dreams last night. All of which ended with me wanting to die, because the alternative would be worse than death.

Dream #1:

I was in this skyscraper, when suddenly, these guys start attacking it with rocket launchers. They were across the street on the balcony of another building. Some random people hid in a room hoping the people wouldn't make the building collapse. They fired another rocket and the building did not collapse, but a chunk of it was removed. We happened to be on that chunk. So we started falling. Trying to hold on to anything we could. We didn't seem scared as we fell, we were rather pissed off actually. Saying things like "God damn it!" and "Fuck...they got us." Hitting the ground seemed to take forever. All I could think about was the pain I would feel once I hit the ground. We had finally hit the ground. Everyone with me survived, but it seemed as if every bone in my body had been broken. I screamed in antagonizing pain. I woke up wishing that I would die.

Dream #2:

If any of you are fellow computer nerds that play Counter-Strike, then you would understand what I meant when I said this one took place on de_aztec. I don't quite remember much about it. Except all these people trying to shoot me and my friends with poison darts. After I was shot, my body starting falling apart. My fingers first, then my hands, arms, feet, legs, then my torso. My head was lying on the ground as I was gasping for breath, I wished that I would just die. Then I woke up.

Dream #3:

My friend had joined a cult. So my dad took me to one of their meetings so I could go there and try and get him out of it. They welcomed me with open arms, so I thought I'd join and sabotage it. I don't remember what I did to sabotage it, but after I did it, it didn't work out too well for me. Mike El-Zein happened to be a member of this cult and he threw me into some kind of a black hole. It turned out to be some random binary code, like the stuff you see in the Matrix. It was just a ring that sent me round and round. Not being able to move, let alone escape. I wanted to die. Then I woke up.

Dream #4:

Don't remember much about this one. It seemed to be a re-enactment of the Talent Show, when suddenly, this large group of Hawaiians that only spoke Spanish were mad at me. I somehow had disgraced their culture. The 50 or so Hawaiians then pulled out AK's and gunned me down. I lied on the ground with hundreds of bullets in my body, couldn't breath because my lungs, throat, and mouth were full of blood. I wanted to die. I woke up.

Thought I might share.
